Alboraya and Port Saplaya Festivals

Alboraya, the municipality to which Port Saplaya belongs, is rich in cultural heritage. From architectural heritage such as the church of the Assumption of Our Lady (in Baroque style) or the hermitage of San Cristóbal.
Other parts of the cultural heritage are the popular festivals of Alboraya . Many festivals are celebrated in Alboraya, such as the Fallas, but the main festivals are, as is common, the most popular.

Alboraya's main festivals

The patron saint festivities of Alboraya are celebrated between the last week of June and the first week of July. This festival is dedicated to the Santísimo Cristo de la Salud , the patron saint of the city, whose feast day is on July 10.

On this holiday, the patron saint is honoured through religious events such as masses, processions, etc., as well as cultural or traditional events that help to create a sense of community among the inhabitants of Alboraya.

Folk shows, food fairs, activities for children... the events are very varied and take place mainly in the historic part of Alboraya or in the fairgrounds. People can easily move between both areas on foot as they are no more than 10 minutes away.

Among the activities of the Alboraya festivities we can find processions, blessing of animals and vehicles, but also farmers' lunch, entrances of Moors and Christians, concerts or children's activities. The different groups of the city also collaborate by organizing, for example, sporting events, concerts or dinners for senior citizens.

Other relevant celebrations in Alboraya

In addition to the patron saint festivals, other festivals are celebrated in Alboraya: the Carrer Cabanyal Festival, the Corpus Christi Festival, the Els Peixets Festival, the Immaculate Conception Festival, the Patacona Festival, the Major Festivals, the Milagrosa Festival, the Santa Bárbara Festival, the Santa Cecilia Festival.

In Port Saplaya in particular, the Fiestas del Carmen are celebrated. They also take place in the month of July (around July 16). There is a competition of music bands, inflatables, sobaquillo dinners, a water festival and much more. In addition, the image of the Virgen del Carmen goes out in a seafaring procession through the canals and the marina of Port Saplaya.
