At
Sea You Apartamentos Port Saplaya we firmly believe that holidays are for spending with the family, and that includes pets. That's why today we want to talk about dog-friendly beaches near Valencia.
Unfortunately, the Coastal Law prohibits dogs on the beaches during the summer season. Therefore, if we want to fully enjoy our holidays with our pets, we must look for specific beaches that allow bathers and their pets to enjoy themselves.
If you are one of those people who travel with your pet and you like to enjoy the outdoors with it, we bring you a compilation of beaches near Valencia that can be accessed with pets without any problem.
Pet-friendly beaches in Valencia and surrounding areas

Luckily, the Valencian Community is one of the Spanish regions with the most pet-friendly beaches. However, most of them are in the provinces of Castellón and Alicante. In the province of Valencia we can only find three. The good news is that they are all relatively close to the city of Valencia.
Dog beach in Pinedo
Pinedo is one of the towns in the metropolitan area of Valencia. Located south of the city on the edge of the port, it has a pet-friendly beach 100 metres long and about 30 metres wide. From Port Saplaya it takes just 15 minutes by car.
This pet-friendly area is only open during the bathing season (from June 1 to September 15) at limited times. Despite these minor restrictions, it is one of the most highly rated areas and users are so interested that the area available has recently been expanded.
El Puig pet beach
Puig de Santa María, 18 km north of the city of Valencia (and 10 kilometres from Port Saplaya) has the pet-friendly beach of La Torreta, Santa Elvira, which has been pet-friendly since 2016.
It is a sandy and pebble beach 100 metres long and 50 metres wide and is not very frequented by bathers without pets. A very quiet beach and ideal for spending a relaxing time (or a day).
Alboraya dog beach
This dog beach is located just a few meters from our apartments, very close to La Patacona beach in Valencia.
Until recently, Els Peixets beach had the area designated for dogs. However, its location has recently been changed to the southern area of Alboraya, located between the mouth of the Carraixet river and that of the La Marquesa irrigation canal.
Although the space is not very large, it is a perfect area for your pet to enjoy and run around in the sand.
Rules for enjoying pet-friendly beaches
We all like to share moments with our pets outdoors. However, in order to be able to live with other beach users, certain rules must be followed to ensure everyone's comfort .
Some of these rules are:
- The pet area is delimited, it is not allowed to leave that area with pets.
- It is compulsory to collect excrement. There are bins specifically provided for this purpose.
- Dogs must be kept on a leash and potentially dangerous ones must be muzzled.
- The pet owner is responsible for any damage caused by the pet.
- The animal must have (and carry) the corresponding documentation in order (veterinary passport and identification card).
- The passage area must be respected: 6 meters from the shore and respect other users.
- Most of these beaches are not supervised, so swimming is not recommended.
Tips for enjoying pet-friendly beaches
The main advice for enjoying pet-friendly beaches is to check the rules before entering and make sure to check the appropriate sign that pets are allowed. Otherwise, you could face significant fines.
Once this is clear, it is time to think about your pet's safety . You should keep an eye on your pet at all times, especially if he is not used to going to the beach or living with other pets or people. For example, if you go swimming, pay attention to your pet, both because of the waves (especially if he does not know how to swim very well) and because of possible jellyfish stings, etc.
On the other hand, be careful with sand , whether it is very hot or if your dog decides to eat it. It can be harmful to his digestive system! Also watch out if he digs in the sand for anything he can find. For example, cigarette butts, fishing hooks, glass...
The rest of the tips for your stay at the beach with pets depend on each pet. For example, if your dog does not have much fur or is very sensitive to heat, we recommend that you bring an umbrella or sunscreen. Water is essential (with its corresponding water bowl) and there are water toys for dogs that can make your dog enjoy it much more.
When finished, we recommend that you give it a bath in fresh water to remove any remaining salt or sand .
With these tips and if you follow the rules of each dog beach, you can spend an unforgettable day enjoying the good weather with your pet. If you are looking for
