La Albufera: how to get there from Port Saplaya and what to do

Port Saplaya 11/07/2024

If you are looking for a quiet and natural plan to do during your visit to Valencia and Port Saplaya, the La Albufera Natural Park is a must-see. A paradise of wetlands and lagoons where you can enjoy one of the best sunsets of your life. We tell you how to get there from Port Saplaya and what to do there to make the most of the plan .

How to get to La Albufera from Port Saplaya

The first option to get to La Albufera is by car. The journey is short (about 20-30 minutes, depending on the point in the park you are going to and the traffic).

The route is simple: from Port Saplaya you will have to take the motorway (V-21) towards Valencia and follow it until exit 13 CV-500 towards El Palmar/El Saler/Albufera. Once on the road, follow the signs for Albufera. If you go to the viewpoint, you will find several parking spaces available close by on the left side of the road.

The public transport option is perhaps a little less fast, but it is a possibility. The estimated time is about 60 minutes.

To get to La Albufera we will have to go first to Valencia and from there take a bus to the park. You can take bus 112 from Port Saplaya to Valencia. Once in Valencia, most of the buses that go to La Albufera leave from the area of La Porta de la Mar. Therefore, we will have to go from where the 112 leaves us (for example, Primado Reig) to La Porta de la Mar and there take bus 24 or 25.

Bus schedules may vary depending on the time of year , so we recommend checking them beforehand.

If you want to plan a full day of cycling, we will tell you the route you should follow. Note: it is a relatively long journey suitable for prepared people. Therefore, the estimated time (for each journey) is about 2 hours.

The route is very pretty as you will enjoy the views of the beaches of La Patacona and La Malvarosa. When you pass these beaches, continue towards La Marina until you reach Tinglado 5, where you will have to turn right towards Nazaret and then continue towards La Punta, cross the river and head towards the Pinedo road (CV-500) and, passing through El Saler, you will reach the La Albufera viewpoint.

Tips for enjoying La Albufera

Once in La Albufera there are many things you can do. One of the most common is to take a boat ride to admire the beauty of the park from the water. These tours are given by local guides who will tell you everything you need to know.

If you like birdwatching, La Albufera and its wetlands are the ideal place to do so. Bring your binoculars and camera and enjoy!

Enjoy a paella (or any other typical dish) in the restaurants of El Palmar. El Palmar is the closest town to the park, which is typically occupied by fishermen and farmers. There you will find many typical Valencian restaurants where you can indulge yourself.
